The Issue
Variations and inconsistencies in the National and International standards, rules and regulations that govern logistics add costs to the supply chain and create impediments to the efficiency and quality of service to customers. The impact of these limits and difficulties are steadily increasing as logistics operations become national or international, rather than State-based, and as they become multimodal and supply-chain focused.
The objectives and targets
ALC will work closely with the Australian Transport Council (ATC), the Standing Committee on Transport (SCOT) and all Australian Governments as well as the National Transport Commission (NTC) in 2006 to continue efforts to reduce red tape and achieve national consistency of regulation. ALC will also identify and promote the adoption of relevant national and international standards.
